News and Announcements / Andromeda 6 is now PVE

Andromeda 6 has been launched as a player versus environment (PVE) galaxy.  This means players will only be able to attack NPCs.  And will not be able to to attack other players.  Over the next few months we will be adding more PvE content. 

Black Eye will remain a 4x player versus player (PvP) galaxy for those that like to live life a little more on the edge.

The start of Black Eye 9 has been pushed back to Saturday April 4th.

The Forum will be down for maintenance for part of the day on Saturday, 21 Feb. We are trying to resolve some problems with the new user registration component.

News and Announcements / Hosting servers moving and new Blackeye launch on 3 Jan 2015

On Saturday, Jan 3rd 2015, both the Andromeda and Blackeye galaxies will move to a new server.  At that time, the current Blackeye galaxy will end, and a new instance will be launched.  Andromeda will continue as previously scheduled.

The new Blackeye galaxy will be a 4x speed galaxy.  Players will start with a full tech planet, and a larger fleet, the warehousing will also be increased.  The galaxy will last 3 months and focus on PvP competition. 

Any remaining credits, and all accounts will be moved to the new galaxy as well.

We will be changing the hosting environment between now and the end of the year.

Therefore, we have decided to end the Blackeye galaxy early and restart the game once it has been moved to a new host.  We are working to configure the new servers now.  We will let you know more as time gets closer.

We will be launching the Vilicus Resurgence event for Blackeye now so that it has time to run before the game moves/ends.

Andromeda will also change hosts, and end at the normal time.

News and Announcements / Black Eye 7 Changes and Ending Date

Black Eye was scheduled to end on 16 August 2014, but will be extended to 23 August 2014 to meet  maintenance and development needs.

We previously had planned on launching a new Centaurus galaxy.  We planned on calling it a hardcore galaxy type. While we are still working on some hosting issues to make this happen, we have decided that with Black Eye 6 ending soon, the next iteration  7 will be as a "Hardcore" galaxy instead of the previous "Speed" galaxy.

A Dark Expanse Hardcore galaxy will have:
  • 2x Speed - Will run at double the speed of Andromeda.
  • A new mission called Planet Survey - This will allow each commander to determine how many resources are on the planet.
  • Limited Planet Resources - Each planet will start with only a certain amount of resources and will be consumed through game play.
  • Tougher NPCs - The non-player characters will have tougher ships, PDBs and planets. And more of them.
  • Longer Ship Build Times - Larger fleets will be harder to create, thus require more strategic game play.
  • No Imperial Chit Conversion from Galactic Credits - Players will not be able to convert galactic credits to imperial chits.  They will be able to convert Victory Points to Imperial Chits.

The Dark Expanse Convoy Intercept (So You Want to be a Pirate?) Event will be launching on April 26th and ending on May 4th.

This event has been updated and will run only during that time period.  We are continuing to add game events that do not happen all the time.  We hope you enjoy this event.
